Three months after the wedding, we followed up about our videos and photos as we had not had feedback from Barefeet (we were told it takes up to 3 months for the photos and videos to be finalized). The videographer for our wedding who happened to also be the owner of the company said he was still reviewing the photos with the photographer. In the meantime, the online trailer was shared with us. The short online trailer and other videos had horizontal lines that rise to the top of the screen and when we questioned this, we were told that the lines are caused due to lights operating at different frequencies which cause an interlacing like effect on video and that this could have been avoided by either switching off the venue lights or the dj’s lights. Thanks Thomas for telling us three months after the wedding when we are not in a position to make a call and temporarily or permanently sacrifice some lighting for the sake of a decent quality video. Thomas also informed us that there was only one part of the evening that he failed to capture on video, the opening dance / bride and groom dance. When asked what went wrong, he said that the reason for the failure to capture the video was not important as it would not remedy the situation. Some of the dance was captured by our guests on their mobile phones where we can see Thomas circling us with his camera as we danced, leaving us with no alternative footage to work with that did not have him circling us and obstructing the view. We now have to settle for the DJ’s amateur recording of half the dance using his cell phone as that was the best footage we could find. After having seen the rest of the videos Barefeet shared with us, we noticed that there was also no video of the dance with the bride and her father…must have slipped Thomas’s mind to mention the failure to record that dance too. Again, not much of an apology given and no reason for the lack of footage. Of the photos shared with us, we identified about 130 that were either out of focus, grainy and unclear or didn’t really have anyone in the center of the photo…just a random shot that was not focused on anything. Unfortunately these bad quality photos were mostly of the reception which involved the guests. This has left us with almost no photos of the guests that are of decent quality although we had purchased the Bud Package which should include 9 hours of photos, the photos taken in the last few hours of the evening are not suitable for printing in their current form. When asked about the poor quality photos, Thomas told us that “the photographer must have had a bad day”. An attempt to edit the photos left us with a batch of photos of people with purple faces. Prior to the wedding, we offered for Barefeet to inspect the venue in advance so that they were adequately prepared for the lighting in the chapel and the hall. We were advised that the videographer and photographer had the correct equipment that was required and they would manage the lighting on the day. From August 2022 when we raised the issues with the videos and photos, until now (8th January 2023), we are still waiting for a resolution to the situation only to be told via Whatsapp that Thomas is too busy.
